About Christmas Babies
Our Mission
Christmas Babies is dedicated to creating joyful holiday memories for families facing challenges. Our mission is to fulfill Christmas wish lists for children who have survived unimaginable trauma, including severe abuse and near-fatal assaults, bringing them comfort and joy during the holiday season.
How It Started
Christmas Babies was founded in 2021 by Ashley Capaldi with one goal in mind, "no child missed, no needs left not filled, and no little faces left without a smile on Christmas". Ashley is the mom of twin boys, a Northeast Philadelphia native and a St. Hubert graduate. She has served 18 years with the Philadelphia Police Department, being one of the first investigators in the Human Trafficking Unit within the Special Victims Unit. There, she worked on complex cases involving child exploitation, human trafficking, and severe abuse of all kinds. Witnessing first-hand the struggles faced by these victims and their families inspired her to expand on a personal tradition of adopting a child at Christmas, into something larger. Ashley knew with the right energy, people, and time, this could become something much bigger. Partnering with the Philadelphia Police Department and DHS, Christmas Babies has provided a Christmas for over 1100 families over the past 4 years! 2021 started with 87 families, and 2024 ended with 487 families! The help that makes this organization successful spans across the tri-state area and truly would not be what it is without each and every single person that contributes to this organization in one way or another. Just this past year, Christmas Babies officially became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is looking forward to making this Christmas even bigger.
Christmas Babies Bedding
Due to the increasing number of bedding requests that come in each year, in 2024 Christmas Babies Bedding was adopted. This part of the organization simply manages all things bedding: pillows, sheets, blankets, etc. The goal of this is to not just help alleviate the stress and chaos that comes with this time of year for Ashley, but also to ensure that every child's wish list is honored. We want each child to receive the specials gifts they asked for, without having their request replaced by something practical like bedding or other essentials. While bedding is an important part of what is provided, it is never meant to take the place of a child's Christmas wish. Instead, it is an addition- something extra to bring them comfort as well as joy during the holidays.
